How Lobo Mantis collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you visit lobomantis.com, buy a live mantis, or reach us by email or social media. We're based in Nevada, USA and ship only within the United States.

By using the Site or making a purchase, you agree to this policy.

Who We Are

Lobo Mantis is a small, independent praying mantis breeder. We sell live, captive-bred mantises and related care supplies to hobbyists in the United States.

Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to purchase from Lobo Mantis or to provide us with any personal information.

By using this Site, signing up for emails, or placing an order, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18. If you are under 18, you may not register, place orders, or submit personal information through this Site. A parent or legal guardian must complete any purchase on behalf of a minor and is responsible for the order, the animal, and its care.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn we've collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact hello@lobomantis.com.

Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to run our business and serve you well.

3.1Information you provide directly
  • Order information — name, shipping address, billing address, email, phone number, items ordered.
  • Account information (if you create one through our checkout provider) — email and password. We never see or store your password.
  • Communications — messages you send through our contact form, email, or social media.
  • Email signups — email address and any preferences you provide.
  • Reviews — your display name and the review content you choose to share.
3.2Payment information

We do not collect or store your payment card information on our servers. Payments are processed by Snipcart (our checkout provider) and Stripe (the PCI-compliant payment processor behind it). Card data is transmitted directly from your browser to Stripe and its banking partners. We only receive transaction confirmation, the last four digits of the card, and the billing name and address.

3.3Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect:

  • Device and browser information — browser type, operating system, screen size.
  • IP address and approximate location — city / state level.
  • Pages visited, time on site, referring URL — in aggregate, via cookieless analytics.
  • Essential cookies — for cart, checkout, and bot protection. See Section 6.
3.4Information from third parties

We may receive information from:

  • Snipcart — order and customer details from completed checkouts.
  • Shipping carriers — delivery confirmation and tracking.
  • Social media platforms — if you interact with our pages, subject to those platforms' policies.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Fulfill orders — process payments, ship live animals, send shipping notifications, handle returns and live arrival claims.
  • Communicate with you — respond to questions, send order updates, provide care guidance.
  • Send marketing emails — only if you opt in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
  • Improve the Site — analyze how people use the Site (in aggregate) so we can fix issues and build better content.
  • Comply with the law — meet tax, accounting, shipping, and live-animal regulations.
  • Prevent fraud and abuse — detect suspicious activity, chargebacks, and policy violations.
  • Manage live-animal logistics — including weather-based shipping holds that require checking your shipping ZIP against weather forecasts.

Cookies and Tracking

We keep tracking to a minimum. We use cookies and similar technologies on the Site for two reasons — and we run no advertising pixels.

Essential
Make the Site work — cart, checkout (Snipcart), and bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile). These cannot be disabled.
Analytics
Understand traffic patterns — Google Analytics 4 (sets first-party analytics cookies) and Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookieless). We do not enable Google's advertising features.
No advertising pixels
We run no Meta, TikTok, or Google ad pixels, build no advertising audiences, and do not sell your data.
Your choices
  • Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through settings.
  • Google Analytics sets first-party cookies; you can block them in your browser settings, and we honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal.
  • Blocking essential cookies will break checkout and account features.

Email Marketing

If you sign up for emails — through our newsletter form or by checking the marketing opt-in at checkout — we'll send you updates about new stock, hatchings, care content, and occasional promotions.

You can unsubscribe at any time
  • Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing email.

Transactional emails are not optional

Order confirmations, shipping updates, weather-hold notices, and return communications will continue regardless of your marketing preferences, because they're necessary to fulfill your order.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as needed to:

  • Fulfill your orders.
  • Provide customer service for live arrival claims, returns, and disputes.
  • Comply with tax, accounting, and legal obligations — typically 4–7 years.
  • Maintain records of communications relevant to ongoing care or potential disputes.

When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

If you ask us to delete your data, we'll do so within a reasonable timeframe — except where retention is legally required (e.g., tax records of completed sales).

9.1All customers

You can:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we have about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information in your account or order history.
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
  • Ask us to delete your information — subject to legal retention rules.
  • Close your customer account with our checkout provider.
How to exercise a right

Email hello@lobomantis.com with the subject "Privacy Request." We'll verify your identity — typically by confirming your order history or a recent purchase — before responding, and we'll respond within 30 days.

9.2California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to Know — request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we've collected about you in the past 12 months, the sources, the purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
  • Right to Delete — request deletion of personal information we've collected, with exceptions for transactions, legal compliance, and security.
  • Right to Correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to Opt Out of "Sale" or "Sharing" — we do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We still honor opt-out signals (see below).
  • Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information — we do not collect sensitive personal information as defined under CPRA.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination — we will not deny you service, charge different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised your privacy rights.

Email hello@lobomantis.com with the subject "California Privacy Request." We'll verify your identity before processing. Authorized agents: California residents may designate an authorized agent to make a request on their behalf — we require written verification from the consumer authorizing the agent.

  • We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, so no opt-out is required to stop it.
  • We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out request.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information:

  • All data on our Site is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS / TLS).
  • Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe's PCI-compliant systems (via Snipcart) and is never stored on our servers.
  • Access to customer information is limited to those who need it to operate the business.
  • We use two-factor authentication on critical accounts — hosting, email, and payment provider.
  • We do not store sensitive financial or identity information.
No system is 100% secure

We cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted online — you acknowledge this risk when you provide information to us. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we'll notify you and the relevant authorities in accordance with applicable law.

Live Animal Shipping and Privacy

Because we ship live animals, we have shipping practices that involve handling your information:

  • We share your name, address, and phone with our shipping carriers for delivery.
  • Before shipping, we may check your destination ZIP against weather forecasts (via public APIs — Open-Meteo and Zippopotam) to determine whether shipment is safe — this involves your ZIP only, not other personal data.
  • We retain shipping records as part of live arrival guarantee documentation.
  • If a delivery dispute occurs, we may share order and tracking information with the carrier or our payment processor to resolve it.

International Visitors

We ship only within the United States. Our Site is served from the United States, and information you provide will be processed in the United States.

If you are outside the U.S. and choose to interact with the Site, you understand and consent that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your country.

We do not knowingly accept orders from outside the U.S.

Third-Party Links and Integrations

The Site may include links to third-party sites — Discord, Instagram, and others.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Read their privacy policies before sharing information with them.

When we do, we'll post the updated version on this page. Material changes will be communicated by email to subscribers and posted as a notice on the Site for at least 30 days.
